What are the types of air conditioning systems?

Ventilation and air conditioning units can be classified in several ways, depending on the specific criteria. One of the most important classifications is based on the design and configuration of the air conditioners. We distinguish three primary types: Monoblock, Split, and Multisplit.

SPLIT TYPE AIR CONDITIONING

This popular type of air conditioning, most commonly used in smaller facilities or individual rooms, consists of two main parts: an indoor unit and an outdoor unit. The indoor unit, placed inside the room, typically comprises a fan, an evaporator, and a controller. The outdoor unit, which includes a condenser, a fan, and a compressor (condensing unit), is installed outside the building, most often on the façade. Both units are interconnected via refrigerant lines.

MULTISPLIT TYPE AIR CONDITIONING

This type of air conditioning is built similarly to split units. The key difference is that a single outdoor unit is connected to multiple indoor units. In multisplit systems, the outdoor unit is usually significantly larger than in a standard split system. For this reason, multisplit outdoor units are often installed on building rooftops or directly on the ground.

MONOBLOCK TYPE AIR CONDITIONING

These installations consist of a single central unit where all components (compressor, condenser, evaporator, etc.) are integrated. The main unit is connected to the building through ventilation ducts. Monoblock air conditioning can range from small, portable units used in homes or offices to large, professional Air Handling Units (AHUs), typically installed on building rooftops.

CLASSIFICATION BY TARGET APPLICATION

Within this category, there are several types of systems, including small portable air conditioners, residential units, and large-scale ventilation and air conditioning units. HVAC Ratherm specializes in the production and installation of the latter group. Our systems are utilized in shopping malls, distribution centers, large-scale commercial facilities, and industrial plants.
