Beginnings / Our story

The beginnings of the company follow a scenario straight out of a movie about the American dream of Silicone Valley firms. The idea in one person’s head, humble beginnings in a garage, and the gradual building of what would become a successful business and a strong market position.

Formally HVAC Ratherm was established in 2017, but it became recognizable in the HVAC industry consciousness three years prior. The company’s first steps in the production of air handling units date back to 2014, when the first unit under the Ratherm brand was delivered to a site.

The years 2014–2017 were the period when the first units under the Ratherm brand appeared on the market. The devices performed well, earning positive feedback and approval, and the brand built its reputation. The result of these efforts was the establishment of a separate entity, Ratherm Sp. z o.o., in 2017, whose profile and main goal is the production and sale of ventilation and air conditioning equipment, such as air handling units and rooftops. The years 2017–2021 marked the dynamic and multi-directional development of the company. A new production plant was developed in Żukowo, near the Tricity area, along with the product offer and the company structure. Existing business relationships were consolidated, and new ones were established.

After 2021, the company strengthened its position in the market and became a significant player among producers of ventilation and air conditioning units. Thanks to an innovative approach to designing HVAC solutions, Ratherm is overtaking many former industry leaders and is becoming the manufacturer of choice for many execution and installation companies.

The number of manufactured units is approaching the production capacity limits of the current facility. In 2024, the company will open its new, third headquarters in Rekcin, near Gdańsk, providing production capabilities that meet the company's current needs. The new headquarters is a modern facility built from the ground up, taking into account the specifics of production as well as future growth, the site includes space for increasing the company's production capacity.

The year 2025 is dedicated to the development of the company's structure and the strategic planning of the company's future.

AHU manufacturer

We’re primarily an AHU manufacturer. However, we don’t limit ourselves solely to production and sales. The main goal of our solutions is to help. To help our business partners achieve their plans and execute their projects. The needs of our customers, whom we prefer to call business partners, are always the priority. We offer not only our devices and services, but also support and consultancy. We are happy to share knowledge and advice with anyone who contacts us- even if the matter does not directly concern our offer- we help and direct to the right places. We listen to everyone, we want to know what we can do for our Partner- this approach creates good and lasting relationships.

We are a courageous company, that doesn’t shy away from questioning the traditional approach, proposing alternative solutions that are more profitable for both investors and end - users. We are not afraid to abandon well-trodden paths to set new ones, thereby contributing to the development of the entire HVAC industry. Our proposal is much more than standard air handling units. We offer our own ideas, designs, suggestions, and above all, knowledge backed by engineering precision. One of the company’s best known moves was replacing rooftops with air handling units featuring a modular inverter chiller as the source of both cooling and heating. This solution, unlike classical rooftops, offers a number of benefits - above all, the size (model and capacity) of the chiller is not rigidly linked to a specific AHU size. It is a configurable device, we can select several models for one unit, depending on the client's needs. Additionally, the chiller and the unit do not have to be physically connected in one casing, which facilitates the layout and placement of the units on the roof. The chiller is offered as an accessory to the AHUs, and the client decides whether to physically connect it to the AHU and when its connection to the coil within the unit, i.e., the DX coil, is to take place.

We are an engineering company, which allows us not only to build model series of advanced devices, but also to come up with proposals for special projects. Our team is based on both experienced engineers and specialists, as well as young, open minds, such synergy allows us to create a modern and professional organization.

The structure of our company is also, and perhaps above all, defined by responsibility. We prioritize the autonomy of our employees, we do not restrict the way they perform assigned tasks, and we limit company guidelines to the necessary minimum.

In our work, we value transparency and honesty. We are pleased that our devices, projects, and calculations are increasingly trusted, and we are not afraid of verification of their quality. We are proud that we know how to design honestly, utilizing our knowledge in a proper, ethical manner.

Ratherm air handlig units

Our air handling units are not just devices, they represent a certain design philosophy. From the beginning, these units have been created in accordance with the philosophy of modular devices, where the client dictates the functionality. Despite this, they are not classical sectional units, as long as the size allows, they are monoblock AHUs. Ratherm offers virtually every type of unit, with a nominal capacity ranging from 700 m3/h to 46,000 m3/h, and is capable of adapting to most projects on the market.

Ratherm devices are built with advanced functionality in mind, while maintaining the simplest possible construction in mind. We do not create solutions that need to be "forcefully" promoted – we listen to our clients' needs and respond to them through specific unit designs.

Ratherm's latest project is the R-Box unit concept, which addresses a very important market need: the necessity for easy and simple introduction of units inside buildings. The XBS variant is a sectional unit where the dimensions of individual sections allow them to be brought into the building through standard door openings. Thus, there is no need to install them in the facility at an early stage of construction, which could, for instance, lead to significant contamination of the units. They are also frameless units – this reduces the number of components, which directly translates into a shorter lead time. Furthermore, this improves the casing's insulating properties by eliminating thermal bridges at the central unit's wall joints. Ultimately, with product development, the R-Box series AHUs will be available "off-the-shelf," allowing the fulfilment time to be shortened to just a few days.

Our products are not only functionally advanced and minimalist in their construction, but they are also visually suited to most buildings in Poland. We place great emphasis on the aesthetics of the equipment, viewing them as an element of architecture. We strive for a modern and light design that reflects the machinery's nature.

Responsibility

We are a responsible company. We take full accountability for the products we introduce to the market. We design our units to fully meet their functions, a particular aspect of this is equipping the units with comprehensive automation and conducting precise analysis of inquiries and designs. If we see that our partner's proposal will not meet the assumptions expected by the client, we inform them. We do not treat our units merely as installation components; therefore, we take full responsibility for the final quality of our units' performance, and we personally address all concerns.

Future

Ratherm's current position has been achieved through persistence and ambition. We are proud of our past. We entered an industry saturated with manufacturers and solutions with a fresh idea and succeeded, which is why we plan the future with even greater aspirations. We are a conscious company, we know that the future is in our hands, and we clearly define our goals for the coming years.

We aim to be even closer to our current and future business partners, which is why the company's plans primarily involve the development of our personnel structure in Poland, especially those working "in the field." This will be followed by the development of our office facilities, so that despite the rapid increase in the number of supported investments, Ratherm can constantly enhance the quality of its products and services.

The coming years also include the development of our own production of components and elements for air handling and air conditioning units. We already manufacture some key components for our units ourselves, and development in this direction represents the building of another pillar of the company: independence.

Naturally, there will also be development of the products and services themselves. One of the most important projects is the launch of an online store for air handling units with a very short lead time, as well as the expansion of sales in export markets.
